Poet Laureate, Simon Armitage, and Booker Prize winners Anne Enright and Alan Hollinghurst are part of a tempting literary line-up at this year’s North Cornwall Book Festival in St Endellion.
Hundreds of visitors from across the UK are expected to flock to this unique literary festival, established by Cornwall’s internationally acclaimed author Patrick Gale back in 2012. The event runs over four days, with the first two dedicated to workshops for local primary and secondary schools, welcoming around 300 young people each year. The main weekend festival features author talks, concerts, workshops, an art exhibition, a local artisan market and a pop-up cafe.
Joining the line-up this year will be Cornish stand-up Edward Rowe; photographer of ancient Britain, David R Abram; and crime writer extraordinaire, Abir Mukhergee. Festival favourites, BBC Radio 3’s Petroc Trelawney and critically acclaimed author Tiffany Murray will also be taking to the stage to discuss their own new releases.
Visitors will have the opportunity to enjoy evening entertainment, including a performance from LYR and a live recording of Radio 4’s Loose Ends.
Workshops in printmaking, foraging, memoir writing and poetry will also be running throughout the weekend.
Patrick Gale, artistic director of the North Cornwall Book Festival, said: “I have been involved in organising this festival for eleven years and am so proud of the gem it has become. The opportunities that the festival gives us to support creative and inspirational events for children and young people are
increasingly important.”
The festival is part of Endelienta Arts and is run by a core team of dedicated volunteers with support from the Endelienta Arts team. Visit endelienta.org.uk for more info and the full line up.
