North Cornwall Book Festival celebrates 10 years

The North Cornwall Book Festival, hosted by Endelienta Arts, will take place between 21st and 24th September 2023, welcoming back book lovers, writers and authors to St Endellion for a weekend of literature.

This year marks the tenth birthday of the North Cornwall Book Festival. Curated by internationally renowned author Patrick Gale, this boutique festival includes author events, concerts, workshops, an art exhibition, a local artisan market and the ever-popular pop-up café. As part of this year’s stellar lineup, the festival will be welcoming the queen of crime fiction Ann Cleeves, historian Tom Holland, and novelists Natalie Haynes and Max Porter.

Evening entertainment will be provided by one of the UK’s most respected singer songwriters Charlie Dore, Devon-based jazz duo Helen Porter & James Budden, and acclaimed live poet Luke Wright.

Attendees will be able to take part in workshops over the weekend. These will include Emma Gunn on foraging, Tomiwa Owolade on writing about people of colour, a poetry workshop from Luke Wright, and sessions on howto break into a career in the arts. There will also be one-to-one Meet the Professionals sessions where attendees will receive invaluable feedback from writers, publishers and other creative industry professionals.

Endelienta Arts’ outreach programme Take Part provides free workshops for over 800 primary school children across North Cornwall every year. Endelienta Arts and the North Cornwall Book Festival believe in creating opportunities for children to fall in love with reading, writing and creative thought. The festival will run two days of workshops with local schools.

Patrick Gale, the Artistic Director of the North Cornwall Book Festival, says: “I am so proud of our 10 years growing this festival to the jewel it is. The opportunities that the festival gives us to support creative and inspirational events for children and young people are increasingly important.”

The North Cornwall Book Festival is run by a core team of dedicated volunteers with support from the Endelienta Arts team. The North Cornwall Book Festival is funded by: Arts Council England, Cornwall Council, GWR, Savills, Seasalt, Sproull Solicitors, Sharps Brewery, Padstow Bookseller, the Cooke family, Cornwall Community Foundation and Tesco.
