It is fantastic to be writing my first piece for Wadebridge Life this winter. As many of you know, I am a Wadebridge boy born and raised. Before I was elected MP, I represented the town on North Cornwall and later, Cornwall Council.
Over the past year, the number one issue brought to my attention by people in Wadebridge has been
the loss of our post office. I’m very pleased that Jason Bickersteth (the Postmaster at Marshgate Post Office) came forward to offer his support, and we have worked together to find a solution. A temporary post office will now be available during select hours at Unit 3 of Hamilton House.
The local community also came together to take over Wadebridge Leisure Centre, relaunching it as a Community Interest Company. Following talks with Ministers in Westminster about the situation I was able to secure £935,000 from the Government’s Levelling Up department. The leisure centre is a vital community asset for Wadebridge which has my ongoing support. A huge thank you to Amanda Pennington and the Friends of Wadebridge Leisure Centre for all they are doing.
Since my election in 2015, my office has actioned over 10,000 cases on behalf of Wadebridge residents. If you require my help with anything, including benefits, the NHS or raising a concern with the Government then please contact me via scott@scottmann.org.uk or 01208 74337. I hold regular advice
surgeries, if you would like to meet with me then please get in touch.
Further information about the work I do on behalf of the community can be found at www.scottmann.org.uk and on social media at www.facebook.com/therightmannforNorthCornwall.
